Hiring

Honest gaps in the team and when each role becomes the bottleneck. This page is the hiring brief — when something here lights up red, we open a search.

Current shape

The platform is built, operated, and maintained by a single founding engineer. Every operating principle on this site (RLS, audit everything, magic-link 4-eyes, ntfy on deploy) is designed to keep that practical at the volume of customers we currently have. It will not stay practical past three or four paying customers.

Roles

Role When needed Why
Founding engineer #2 At first paying customer signing Pager rotation, code review, vacation cover. The current single-engineer setup has zero redundancy.
Compliance / regulatory lead Before second framework counsel review (Plan 97) Counsel routing infrastructure exists, but the relationships with surveying, defence, and EU-AI-Act counsel firms need an internal owner who isn't the engineer.
Customer success / onboarding At second paying customer Onboarding today is white-glove from the engineer. Self-serve signup (Plan 92) shipped, but RLB-tier pilots need a human walking them through evidence pack interpretation.
Product designer (contract) Before Plan 98 Phase 2 marketing rewrite The homepage rewrite (Plan 89) was engineer-designed. The multi-regulation homepage (Plan 98) needs designer eyes to land the UK-first tone shift.
Sales / GTM After two pilot conversions Founder-led until then. The RICS and Defence packs each have specific buyer personas (chartered surveying partners; defence supply chain compliance leads) that need targeted outreach the engineer cannot scale.
Security / SOC2 lead (fractional) Before third paying customer or any regulated-industry RFP A SOC2 Type 1 report becomes the table-stakes ask. The platform is built for it (audit log, RLS, magic-link 4-eyes) but the report itself needs a human owner.

What we are not hiring

We are not hiring a CTO, a head of engineering, or a senior platform engineer "to set the architecture". The architecture is set. The standing principle (see Operating principles) is that the platform stays small enough for one person to hold in their head. Every hire above either replaces the founding engineer in their absence or adds a non-engineering capability the founding engineer cannot perform.
